Due to increased interest in the results of Census 2021, we inform you that their announcement will be organized in accordance with the Program of the Population and Housing Census in the Republic of Bulgaria in 2021, approved by Decision No. 717 of the Council of Ministers of 2019, as amended by Decisions No. 259 and No. 676 of the Council of Ministers of 2021.
The release of the Census 2021 data is not delayed and will be done in phases by early next year.
The first data on the population by sex, age, legal marital status, and locality will be released on October 3. Socio-economic characteristics of the country's population - educational attainment and economic activity - will also be published by the end of October.
Data on ethno-cultural characteristics (ethnicity, mother tongue, religion, and religiosity) and migration (internal migration, immigrants, and commuting) will be released in November.
In December, we will announce the results of the sample surveys ‘Fertility and Reproductive Behaviour of the Population’ and ‘Migration and Migration Behaviour of the Population’, as well as data on the health status of the population.
In January and February 2023, geospatial data (a grid with a spatial resolution of 1 sq km) on population, information on housing and dwellings, housing conditions, households, and families in the country will be presented.
The last survey of the Census 2021 ‘Time Budget’ program is currently being conducted ‘on the ground’ and will last for one calendar year, and the data will be released in 2024.
Despite the complex situation in the country surrounding Census 2021, the experts at the NSI are making every effort to make the census data available to the general public within the timeframe envisaged.
