How many children do we want and what do we need to stay in Bulgaria?

Published at: 02.09.2021 - 11:36

Population and Housing Census has always been a source of unique data which could not be collected otherwise. The same will be by conducting the 18th census in Bulgaria.

Along with the traditional data for the number of people, households and dwellings, the life conditions and the mountains of information to be collected and processed, in the Census 2021 Programme there will be conducted as accompanying ones, surveys of the births and the reproduction attitudes, as well as for the migration and the migration behaviour of people in Bulgaria.

The surveys are sample ones and almost 44 000 randomly selected households in all the country can fill in one of the two questionnaires.

The data to be received from the survey of births will contribute to clarifying the reproduction attitudes, ideals and problems that people have and therefore appropriate demographic and social policies can be developed. There we ask questions about how many children you want to have and if this is not possible, why.

The migration survey aims at studying the migration processes during the years between the two censuses, the expectations for future prospects, as well as the factors which determine such behavior. To what extent do education, unemployment, the environment and security affect whether we want to stay in our country? Do we want to emigrate permanently or would we return and what conditions are needed for that?

In case that after your electronic questionnaire on your screen is shown one of the questionnaires of the two sample surveys, please, do not skip it. You could see the contents of the two questionnaires on the website of Census 2021
