During the visit the experts from Kosovo were acquainted with the specific features of the adult education survey which is run every 5/6 years in all EU member states, EFTA countries and candidate countries according to a common methodology and common harmonized questionnaire.
The main objective of the Adult Education Survey is studying main activities of lifelong learning (formal, non-formal and informal education and training), characteristics of the trainings, participation obstacles, access to information on education and training possibilities, language skills, cultural events.
Kosovo is planning to launch the first pilot of Adult Education Survey (AES) in 2020, in order to test the feasibility of collecting AES data at a national level and then to take part in the next round of AES (as a full scale survey) in 2022 together with the other European countries. During the training the BNSI experts delivered their experience of the surveys conducted in Bulgaria in 2007, 2011 and 2016 and were discussed methodological issues, operative aspects, the applicable legislation, the preparation of the questionnaire and quality management during data collection.
In the 3-day training on behalf of BNSI the following experts took part: Magdalena Kostova, Director of Demographic and Social Statistics Directorate, Svilen Kateliev, Head of Education and Culture Statistics Department, Elena Tsankova, state expert at Education and Culture Statistics Department, Dilyan Atanasov, chief expert at Education and Culture Statistics Department, Anzhelina Aleksieva, junior expert at Education and Culture Statistics Department, Rasim Riustem, state expert at Statistics on Living Conditions Department.
The study visit was a good contribution to the development of the bilateral relations between BNSI and Kosovo Agency of Statistics.
