The training is carried out within the Programme ‘Building of Administrative capacity and democratic institutions’ of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria. The objective of the Programme is to support the strengthening of the institutional and administrative capacity of partner countries of the Western Balkans and the Black Sea region.
During the training, 20 young experts from the Western Balkan countries and Bulgaria will be acquainted with the basic concepts of the statistics theory, as well as with the specific features of the statistical surveys in the field of business, macroeconomic, demographic and social statistics, Big Data and the alternative data sources.
The theoretical part of the training is focused on the specific nature of the sampling surveys - their main characteristics, organisation and types. The training aims to acquaint the participants with the best practices in the conduct of statistical surveys in Bulgaria and their relation to different aspects of life, the daily work in the BNSI, as well as the modern trends and new methods for collecting data, including the so-called Big Data. Part of the modules contain practical case studies and problems which the participants will have to solve.
This course is a continuation of the NSI policy for enhancing regional cooperation in the field of statistics. This policy is also laid down in European Multiannual Statistical Programme 2013 - 2020 and aims to synchronize statistics in these countries with European standards. The National statistical institute is welcome and reliable partner for the statistical offices of the Balkan countries in the process of implementing the European requirements and standards which ensure quality and reliablility of the produced statistical information.
