January, 21st was declared the Midwife’s day in 1951 with a decree of the National Assembly of Bulgaria. Interestingly, the celebration day coincides with the date when Babinden was celebrated.
On occasion of the Midwife’s Day, the National Statistical Institute has produced an infographics from which you can find out how many are the doctors-obstetricians and gynaecologists and midwives in Bulgaria, and how many children have taken their first breath of air in their hands.
