Between 10 and 12 October 2018 in Bucharest, Romania, the President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky and Deputy President Diana Yancheva will participate in the 104th Annual Conference of the Directors General of the National Statistical Institutes (DGINS) and the 38th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC).

The topic of this year’s DGINS Conference, which will be held on 10-11 October, is “New statistical opportunities and production models deriving from digitalisation of societies and Big Data”. The DGINS Conference is the main forum for discussing strategic matters related to the development of the European Statistical System (ESS).

On 12 October, right after the DGINS Conference, a regular meeting of the ESSC will be held, at which the Committee will discuss and vote on six proposals for regulations and decisions of the European Commission, including in the fields of farm statistics, statistics on income and living conditions, and accidents at work and other work-related health problems.

The Committee will also give its opinion on the draft strategic priorities for the Annual Work Programme 2020 and on the ESS Agreement on agricultural land prices and rents statistics. The Committee will further discuss the concept for the third round of peer reviews and will hear a progress report from the Austrian Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics.
