The Azerbaijani delegation is headed by the Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Tahir Budagov. During his visit he will discuss with the President of BNSI Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky the cooperation between both institutions and questions related to the implementation of the twinning project. Mr. Ringo Raupach, Head of ‘Bilateral and international cooperation’ Department will actively participate in the training, as Member State Project Leader on behalf of the Leader Partner - Federal Statistical Office of Germany (DESTATIS).
The aim of the current study visit is Azerbaijani colleagues to get acquainted with Bulgarian and German experience and good practices in management of twinning projects. Mr. Gasim Aliyev, Beneficiary Country Project Leader will have the opportunity to discuss current project status, implementation of activities, planning future missions and activities for its visibility and dissemination, as well as to get acquainted with the work of his Bulgarian colleagues under the twinning project.
The Bulgarian team includes Mr. Arslan Ahmedov - Resident twinning adviser, Bogdan Bogdanov Phd - Project Component 3 Leader, Ms. Irena Dudova - Project Component 2 Leader, all BNSI’s short term experts, participating in twinning project and experts from “Planning, Projects and Coordination” Department.
During the study visit participants will also get acquainted with management experience of Regional Statistical Office Yug and “Statistical Surveys - Gabrovo” Department.
The meeting was opened by the President of National Statistical Institute Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky, Member State Junior Project Leader by the BNSI, who stressed his satisfaction with the BNSI’s hosting of this trilateral meeting, which is essential for the smooth running of all project activities and contributes to expanding cooperation between the BNSI, the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and DESTATIS.
Mr. Budagov also stressed the importance of the project for development of Azerbaijani statistics in line with European standards as well as the useful work with Bulgarian experts.
Mr. Ringo Raupach shared his satisfaction with the collaboration between the three institutions and his confidence in the benefits of this study visit to get acquainted with the experience of the National Statistical Institute.
Later in the day Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky and Mr. Tahir Budagov signed a second Action plan between the two counties in the framework of ongoing Agreement for bilateral cooperation in the field of statistics. The planned activities aim to contribute to the cooperation between the National Statistical Institute and the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan in other areas, which is not included in the twinning project.
The implementation period of the twinning project ‘Support to the State Statistical Committee in Harmonisation of the National Statistics System of the Republic of Azerbaijan in line with European standards’ is 24 mounts and is funded by the European Union.
