On 7 and 8 April 2014 in Paris, France, the 11th Meeting of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy (CSSP) will take place. With a Decision of the Council of Ministers as of 27 January 2011, the President of the National Statistical Institute is designated to represent the Republic of Bulgaria as an ad hoc observer during the meetings of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy. In the framework of the 11th meeting issues related to the economic growth and the measurement of well-being and progress will be discussed.

Directly after the 11th Meeting of the CSSP, from 9 to 11 April, the 62nd Plenary session of the Conference of European Statisticians will take place. The main purpose of the forum is coordination of the international statistical activity within the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) in which representatives from all over the world take part. The Conference of European Statisticians is one of the oldest statistical bodies at global level. Its foundations lay in the times of the League of Nations, which existed between the World War I and World War II. In 1928 was held the First Statistical Conference.  In time, the Conference plays a key role in popularization and development of statistics.

Discussions related to the directions of elaboration of methodological guidelines and recommendations for improvement of quality of statistics at national level, as well as for international comparability of data are included in the agenda. Further discussions will be carried on the progress realized in the activity of the implementation of the Strategy of High-level group for the modernisation of the processes linked to the statistics production and statistical services, as well as the directions for action and recommendations in the field of gender equality indicators and statistics of climate change.
