On 26 November 2013 at 16:00 h a solemn meeting on the occasion of the global initiative “2013 – International Year of Statistics” will be held in the Great Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). The event is organized jointly by the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the BAS and the National Statistical Institute, and will be opened by Prof. Eugenia Stoimenova, D.Sc., Scientific Secretary of BAS. Welcoming speeches will be presented by Acad. Stefan Vodenicharov, D.Sc., President of BAS and Mrs. Reneta Indjova, Ph.D., President of NSI.
NSI will present a paper and make a visual display of a concept on the theme “Geographic Information Systems as a part of the statistical production process”.
Bulgaria has joined to the worldwide campaign “2013 – International Year of Statistics” and actively takes part in the global initiative that aims to strengthen the role and place of the Bulgarian statistics for the development and promotion of European and worldwide statistical practice. The initiative assists to increase the literacy in using statistical information and provokes the interest in statistics as a science and practical application not only of the scientific community, business, media, politicians and employers, but also of the whole society.
