Inflation and Consumer Price Indices in July 2018

According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute at the end of June 2018 the number of employees under labour contract increased by 1.8% as compared to the end of March 2018 and reached 2.35 million.
In the second quarter of 2018 in comparison with the first quarter of 2018 the average monthly wages and salaries increased by 4.5% getting 1 125 BGN.
In the period January - May 2018 the Bulgarian exports to the EU increased by 12.0% compared to the same period of 2017 and amounted to 14 887.3 Million BGN while the imports grew by 9.7% and added up to 16 389.0 Million BGN.
In May 2018 the exports to the EU increased by 5.6% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 3 028.0 Million BGN while the imports grew by 6.5% and added up to 3 367.9 Million BGN.
In the period January - June 2018 the Bulgarian exports to third countries decreased by 15.0% compared to the same period of 2017 and amounted to 7 489.1 Million BGN while the imports increased by 1.4% and added up to 10 573.9 Million BGN.
In the period January - June 2018 the total value of all exported goods (both for third countries and EU) amounted to 25 569.4 Million BGN and in comparison with the same period of the previous year the exports increased by 1.6% while the total value of all imported goods added up to 30 398.8 Million BGN and grew by 6.6%.
In June 2018, 2 890 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places were functioned in the country. The total number of the rooms in them was 130.1 thousand and the bed-places were 290.0 thousand. In comparison with June 2017, the total number of accommodation establishments (functioned during the period) increased by 4.3%, while the bed-places in them decreased by 1.7%.
The total number of the nights spent in all accommodation establishments registered in June 2018 was 4 064.4 thousand, or by 4.5% more in comparison with the same month of the previous year.
The total revenues from nights spent in June 2018 reached 200.3 million BGN or by 6.5% more compared to June 2017.
According to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute in the second quarter of 2018 the number of newly built residential buildings was 573 and the newly built dwellings in them were 2 285. Compared to the second quarter of 2017 the buildings were by 11 less (or by 1.9%) and the newly built dwellings in them decreased by 290 or by 11.3%.
According to the preliminary data, in June 2018 the index of production in section ‘Construction’ calculated on the base of seasonally adjusted data was 0.7% below the level of the previous month. In June 2018 the working day adjusted index of production in construction decreased by 2.9% in comparison with the same month of 2017.
According to the preliminary seasonally adjusted data in June 2018 the turnover in ‘Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles’ at constant prices increased by 0.4% compared to the previous month.
According to the preliminary data the Industrial Production Index, seasonally adjusted, increased by 1.0% in June 2018 as compared to May 2018. In June 2018 the working day adjusted Industrial Production Index rose by 3.6% in comparison with the same month of 2017.
In July 2018, the total consumer confidence indicator decreases by 0.6 percentage points compared to its level 3 months ago which is due entirely to the decreased confidence among the rural population.
