Data refers to the number of chitalishta (also called community clubs, community cultural centers or cultural centers). In the survey are included indicators for the revenue and expenditure of chitalishta; courses - language, music, dance, etc.; amateur artistic creativity - type groups and schools, cultural and creative activities - organized celebration of important dates, discussions of books, organized museum collections and other, members, staff and material supplies.

Survey covers the activity of all registered community cultural centers according to the People’s Chitalishte Act.

Community cultural centers are traditional self-managed Bulgarian culture-educational organizations in the settlements which perform and public cultural and educational tasks.
