Statistical presentation | |
Data description | Provision of information from firms, firm establishments, municipal administrations, scientific institutes, foundations, ministries and other organizations and departments which during the year under review have spent expenditure on protection and restoration of the environment. Included here is the expenditure on acquisition as well as the expenditure on maintenance of the tangible fixed assets with ecological use allocated by direction of ecological use (water, air, waste, etc.). |
Classification system | · Classification of environmental protection activities (CEPA)- a common classification of environmental protection activities which has been adopted by UN and European statisticians and accountants in 1994 and replaced in 2000 by an improved version (CEPA 2000); · Nomenclature of environmental protection equipment. |
Sector coverage | Included are the economic subjects from all economic sectors, which have spent environmental protection expenditure. |
Statistical concepts and definitions | Specialized equipment for the environment (end-of-pipe) - includes facilities which are not involved in the production process and serve only to reduce pollution resulting from production. Integrated technologies - elements of the production process/technologies, which resulted in achieving less environmental pollution compared to other similar technologies. |
Statistical unit | Economic units that have spent funds for new construction, reconstruction, maintenance and operation of tangible and intangible fixed assets and activities on the environment. |
Statistical population | All economic units that have expended funds for the acquisition and maintenance of tangible and intangible fixed assets with ecological use. The data for enterprises and the number of employed persons from the Statistical Business Register for the period t-2 were used to form the general population, from which the study "Expenditures for protection and restoration of the environment" is sampled. For the study of the group, two approaches are combined - exhaustive and sampling. Comprehensive monitoring applies to a group of enterprises that are previously known to have environmental expenditure, and where the industry group surveyed contains too few enterprises to be sampled. By regulation, data are reported by economic activity group. For each sample, a simple random sample is emitted. Based on the sampling survey, estimates are calculated for the enterprise's arithmetic mean for the sampled population. In order to obtain an estimate of the aggregate, the arithmetic mean is multiplied by the number of enterprises.
