During the period 1 April to 15 May, NSI is conducting a survey on ‘ICT usage in households and by individuals’
In 1 April, the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria launches the survey on ‘ICT usage in households and by individuals in 2015’. The survey is conducted in compliance to the Regulation (EU) No 1196/2014 of the EU Commission concerning Community statistics on the Information Society and follows common methodology with all EU Member States, which will ensure international comparability of obtained results.
90 years Household Budget Survey – the oldest sample statistical survey in Bulgaria
Household Budget Survey dates back to March 1925 when the first one-month survey of the family income and expenditure of the civil servants and workers households has been implemented. Two years later the first annual survey has been carried out. Seven surveys are implemented up to 1951, covering different population groups - households of workers and civil servants or households of farmers. The selection of households at that time is not done according to the theory of sample surveys.
The NSI will conduct a survey on ‘Social Inclusion and Living Conditions 2015’ during the March - May 2015 period
In March, the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria launches conducting of the survey on ‘Social Inclusion and Living Conditions 2015’.
Regulation 1177/2003 of the European Parliament and the Council establishes a common framework for systematic production of statistics in the European Union on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) which includes comparable and timely information on current status and dynamics of income, as well as the level and structure of poverty and social exclusion at national and European level.
NSI will participate in the forty-sixth session of the United Nations Statistical Commission
The President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky will take part in the forty-sixth regular session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, which will be held from 3 to 6 March 2015 at UN Headquarters in New York. The forum will discuss a range of issues of global importance for the development of statistics worldwide.

Meeting of the European Statistical System Committee
The 24th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) will be held on 12 February 2015 in Luxembourg and it will be the first ESSC meeting for the year out of total of four regular meetings of the Committee. It is chaired by Eurostat and attended by the Heads of National Statistical Institutes of the EU Member States and representatives of ECB, OECD and EFTA countries. Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky, President of the National Statistical Institute, will participate in the event on behalf of Bulgaria.
NSI started work on the project ‘Improvement of the methods for compilation of EPE in order to comply with the requirements of new module on EPE in the Regulation amending Regulation (EU) No 691/2011’
According the implementation of the contract of NSI with the EC in 2015 began work on the project ‘Improvement of the methods for compilation of EPE in order to comply with the requirements of new module on EPE in the Regulation amending Regulation (EU) No 691/2011 on European environmental economic accounts’.
The project aims to improve the methodology for assessing the environmental protection expenditure and the development of detailed standard tables in value units containing data on environmental protection expenditure in economic activities.
Project ‘Statistics on the Information Society 2015’
NSI has started a project ‘Statistics on the Information Society 2015’ implemented in accordance with the Grant agreement with the European Commission № 06163.2014.004-2014.476. The project includes conducting of two separate surveys - ‘Survey on ICT usage in households and by individuals’ and ‘Survey on ICT usage and e-commerce in enterprises’.
Classification of Products by Economic Activities (CPEA-2015)
Since 1 January 2015 shall enter into force Classification of Products by Economic Activity (CPEA-2015), which repealed the Classification of Products by Economic Activity (CPEA-2008). The revised classification has been developed in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) № 1209/2014 of 29 October 2014 amending Regulation (EC) № 451/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a new statistical classification of products by activity (CPA) and repealing Council Regulation (EEC) № 3696/93.
