On 7th September, at 10 a.m., the Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov and the NSI President Sergey Tsvetarsky will launch officially Census 2021 with a press conference in the Granite Hall in the Council of Ministers. In the event will also take part the NSI Deputy President Diana Yancheva and Magdalena Kostova, Director of Demographic and Social Statistics Directorate. The launch will be live streamed on the NSI websites and NSI social media.
At 0:00 on 7th September starts the 18th population and housing census. By 17th September every person residing in the territory of the country can get counted with their family by filling in an online questionnaire. From 18th September to 3rd October enumerators will visit people’s homes and will count only those who had not done that by themselves via Internet.
The largest statistics survey is conducted every ten years. In 2021 a census is carried out in all EU Member States. Census data are used in the decision-making process and when funds are allocated in various spheres such as education, healthcare, social welfare, etc. Developing of national and regional policies is based on them, which makes census a nationwide cause.
