The long-awaited start of the 18th population and housing census in Bulgaria will be signalled at 0:00 on 7th September 2021. Then the Census Information System will be launched and everyone who lives permanently in Bulgaria can get counted online. We recommend this way because it is fast, easy, comfortable and in pandemic conditions – safe. After that the meeting with an enumerator will be only for submitting the unique 15-digit code to be generated by the system when successful counting is completed.
In order to be sure that nobody will get counted on behalf of us, it is necessary to get registered with a valid email address, Personal Identification Number and number of a Bulgarian identity document. The registration data are used only for the person’s identification and are not stored by NSI. Registration confirmation follows – we get an email message with a link on which we should click within two hours. After the confirmation a screen for filling in the electronic questionnaire will open. Therein we should enter with the email address and the password from our registration.
The questionnaire comprises questions about the dwelling, household and people with whom we live in the same household.
Completing the questionnaire takes 20 minutes on average. It can be stopped and continued later but we should have completed and confirmed each page with the button “Forward”. If we leave uncompleted page for more than 30 minutes without entering data the link gets disrupted and we should enter again with an email address and a password.
We can go back to previous questionnaire pages and edit the information but no later than its final completing. Then by 17th September we can only see our data without editing them.
After the successful counting is completed, we will get a notification and an email message with a unique 15-digit code to keep and submit it to the enumerator when they ring our doorbell.
It is important to know:
- We should fill in the address where we actually live but not that one where we are registered.
- The access to the electronic questionnaire will be limited only to Bulgaria, since the Bulgarians who live abroad permanently will be counted in the country where they reside.
