Participation of a delegation of the NSI in the final meeting on Twinning project in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

Sergey Tsvetarsky, President of the NSI will participate in the final meeting of the "Support to the State Statistical Office for capacity building and improving compliance of statistics with EU standards" Twinning project, which will be held on June 30 and July 1, 2014 in Skopje. The National Statistical Institute will be represented by Stefan Tsonev, Head of the "Environmental Statistics and Energy" department and Galina Vasileva, Acting Head of 'Statistics Services" department who participated in the implementation of project activities in the field of environmental accounts and statistics of transport.

On the first day it is planned to hold four parallel sessions in the field of national accounts, social and business statistics and statistical quality, which will be attended by representatives of the NSIs. On the second day the project partners will present the results and their work. Planned for attendance are the Director General of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, the Director General of the State Statistical Office of former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, the Head of the EU Delegation in Skopje, the Head of "Statistical cooperation" in Eurostat, the German Ambassador in Skopje, representatives of the Government of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, the Project Manager and its counterparts from German and Macedonian side.

The Support to the State Statistical Office   for capacity building and improving compliance of statistics with EU standards" Twinning Project on which participants are the Federal Statistical Office of Germany (DESTATIS) and the State Statistical Office of former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia started in the second half of 2012. Junior partner is the Statistical Office of Denmark, and experts participate from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and France. The total cost of the project is 1.2 million euros for a period of 24 months. The National Statistical Institute participates in the implementation of project activities with six experts who realized 11 missions. Participation in this project is a continuation of the good cooperation of the NSI with the statistical offices of Germany and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
