The President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD together with experts from the International Relations and Projects Department took part in an online meeting of the Working Group on Exchange of Statistical Data and Economic Information (WGESDEI) of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
The main goal of the meeting was presenting the final version of the compilation of main economic and social indicators for the countries of the Black Sea region, prepared by the BSEC Coordination Center for the Exchange of Statistical Data and Economic Information based on data provided by national statistical institutes of the Member States. It will be published on the BSEC website.
Representatives of the Permanent International Secretariat (PERMIS) provided information about the newly updated BSEC Economic Agenda, which was adopted during a meeting of the BSEC Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) on 15 December 2023. One of the main goals laid out in the Economic Agenda is enhancing the cooperation between national statistical institutes of the Member States, in particular through the exchange of economic and social statistical data, expertise, experience, good practices and periodic publications.
At the end of the meeting, participants were also informed that as of 1 July 2024, the Turkish Statistical Institute will assume the Country-Coordinatorship of the Working Group for a period of 2 years.
