During the 55th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee in Luxembourg, in which Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, President of the National Statistical Institute, took part, the contribution and participation of National Statistical Institutes in the use of the emerging Common European Data Spaces was discussed. The possible added value for statistical offices, participating in these Data Spaces was examined, as well as their contribution in setting standards to achieve interoperability allowing the integration of all administrative data for statistical purposes.
The final report on the results of the third round of peer reviews within the European Statistical System in the period of 2021-2023 was presented, with an emphasis on the independence of national statistics, coordination between statistical authorities and their modernization.
A good level of implementation of the principles of the European Statistical Code of Practice and a significantly higher quality of official data was indicated in the 15th annual report of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board.
Among the discussed topics during the meeting were also granting derogations to certain Member States regarding the transmission of statistics concerning the European system of national and regional accounts, the European strategy for environmental accounts for the period of 2024 – 2028, proposal for a regulation on commercial real estate statistics, as well as the future work on improving timeliness of social protection indicators.
