The President of the National Statistical Institute, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, held two working meetings: with the Executive Director of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria, Sylvia Georgieva, and with the President of the Labour Union "Podkrepa", Dimitar Manolov. The two meetings were attended respectively by Neli Staykova, an expert from the NSORB, and Vanya Grigorova, an economic advisor to the president of the labour union.
During the meetings, Assoc. Prof. Atanasov pointed out as a primary task for the NSI to work more on the use of administrative sources of information and even to look for ways to gain access to databases of private holders. "This will reduce the administrative burden on respondents and make the data more representative, and in many cases it will even be comprehensive," he added.
The representatives of the NSORB expressed interest in the upcoming release of Census 2021 data and the possibility of providing data at the municipal level.
Dimitar Manolov emphasized that his organization is one of the biggest users of the NSI products and services and drew attention to the opportunities for improving accessibility to statistical information.
All participants in the meetings noted that timely and reliable data is extremely important for the whole society and expressed their readiness for future cooperation. The President of the NSI thanked for the proposed partnership and noted that with joint efforts, the identified goals can be achieved.
