Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970 in the United States of America and Canada. In 1990 it was declared an international day and in Bulgaria it has been celebrated since 1993. The goal is people around the world to unite in protection of nature and the environment.
Each year, the International Earth Day Network has its focus on a topical theme related to the protection of the planet. Every living creature has a unique value and plays an important role in the complex network of life. The motto of the campaign this year is "Protect our species".
