The meeting was opened by the President of the National Statistical Institute Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky, who is also a Junior Member State Project Leader. Mr. Tsvetarsky briefly described BNSI experience in the field of demographic and social statistics and together with Azerbaijani guests expressed the belief that the study visit will contribute to the achievement of the project objectives under this component.
- European Health and Social Integration Survey;
- 2011 Population Census - Bulgarian experience in usage the census as data source for statistics on disabled persons;
- Employment of disabled people - Labor Force Survey 2011 ad-hoc module;
- The European System of Integrated Social Protection Statistics (ESSPROS) - structure and used classification.
An expert from National Health Data and E-health Directorate at the National Center for Public Health and Analysis at the Ministry of Health will participate in the training. The maintained by the Center Information system “Persons with a primary disability, type and degree of disability” will be presented as a possible administrative data source for people with disabilities. On behalf of BNSI experts from Demographic and Social Statistics Directorate - Health and Justice Statistics Department and Statistics on Living Conditions Department, Labour Statistics Department and Multi-Domain Statistics and Geostatistics Department participate.
During the study visit in Bulgaria the statisticians from the State Statistical Committee will also get acquainted with the experience of Regional Statistical Office - Severoiztok in organizing and conducting households’ sample surveys and ad hoc module on employment of disabled people in LFS at regional level.
The implementation period of twinning project “Support to the State Statistical Committee in Harmonisation of the National Statistics System of the Republic of Azerbaijan in line with European standards” is 24 mounts and is funded by the European Union.
