The meeting with Azerbaijani colleagues was opened by the President of the National Statistical Institute Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky, who is also a Junior Member State Project Leader. Mr. Tsvetarsky said that between BNSI and State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan exist good traditions in the exchange of experience in the field of tourism statistics in the last decade, which proving that both countries set this area as a priority objective in its development.
The Bulgarian team is headed by Ms. Diana Yancheva, Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute and short term experts on twinning projects and is consisted of experts from Business Tendencies and Tourism Department and Non-financial National Accounts Department.
During the study visit the statisticians form Republic of Azerbaijan will also get acquainted with experience of Regional Statistical Office Severoiztok in the field of tourism statistics. There will be demonstrated the work of the interviewers in survey on tourist trips and tourism-related expenditures in district Varna as well as the usage of CAPI interview expressed in collecting data with an electronic device.
The implementation period of twinning project “Support to the State Statistical Committee in Harmonisation of the National Statistics System of the Republic of Azerbaijan in line with European standards” is 24 mounts and is funded by the European Union.
