Meeting of the National Statistical Council

On 3 December 2013, under the chairmanship of Prof. Hristina Vucheva was held a meeting of the National Statistics Council (NSC), which is the highest advisory body in the field of statistics at the national level.

The report for 2013 on the implementation of the tasks of the National Statistical Programme 2013 and the implementation of new horizontal priorities in the Strategy for Development of the National Statistical System 2013-2017 was presented and adopted at the meeting.

NSC members expressed their high appreciation for the report and the work done by the NSI in 2013 and expressed their satisfaction with the achieved quality standards of the statistical information.

The National Statistical Programme for 2014, which reflects the national and European requirements and is consistent with the priorities set out within the five-year Statistical Work Programme 2013-2017 of Eurostat was reviewed at the meeting. The proposal from the Bulgarian National Bank to include new survey in the National Statistical Programme - "Quarterly short-term financial statistics” was discussed. The proposal is in line with the requirements of the ECB and ESRB (European Systemic Risk Board) in the field of financial accounts. After the discussions held, the meeting unanimously adopted the National Statistical Programme for 2014.

At the conclusion of the meeting the President of NSI Reneta Indjova, Ph.D., thanked the members of the NSC for the fruitful cooperation and for their contribution to the development and improvement of the National Statistical System.
