On 7 November 2013 a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the NSI and MRD, implementing the project ‘Bulgarian Border Dialogues. Developing a Regional Database for Cross-Border Cooperation”, funded by BG 11 programme “Capacity Building and Institutional Cooperation” within the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009 – 2014.
The project activities are related to statistical capacity building by exchanging of experience and carrying out meetings and discussions between the statistical institutes of the Republic of Bulgaria and neighbouring candidate countries for EU membership (Turkey, Serbia and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), as well as statistical institute of the Kingdom of Norway.
The project aims to improve the cross-border relations between the institutions, allowing harmonization of methodology for production of a larger volume of cross-border data.
NSI experts in the field of demographic, social, business and environmental statistics will participate in a Joint Statistical Working Group, including also representatives from statistical institutes of neighbouring countries and the Kingdom of Norway. The Working Group will propose measures for harmonized statistical methodology. The result will be elaborated common indicators that allow production of cross-border data.
