In the beginning of August 2024, the National Statistical Institute completed the ‘Collection of Data for Cities and sub-national Statistics’ project under the grant agreement with the European Commission No. 101052213-2021-BG-CITY. This 27-month project continued a series of projects that Bulgaria has been participating in since 2004.
The project’s main goal is to provide reliable and comparable statistical information about the regions needed for implementing territorial policies in the European Union.
As a result of the implementation of the project, the following goals were achieved:
- Provision of data for the reference years 2021 and 2022 for the variables defined by Eurostat;
- Applying Small Area Estimation methodology for compilation of variables;
- Study of the results of Census 2021 and their impact on territorial typologies.
