Subject of observation is the activity of Bulgarian film producers, which covers produced and fully accounted films for the year intended for exhibition in cinemas as well as for television broadcasting. Films produced exclusively for internet are excluded.

The number of films produced includes nationally-financed films and co-productions with financial participation of national producers completed and fully accounted for the reference year. The survey excludes production of foreign films of which nationally-registered producers do not have any ownership.

Full-length film is a film with a running time of 70 minutes or longer.

Short and medium-length film is a film with a running time of less than 70 minutes.

Units of observation are the National Film Center and all companies/ legal entities with film production activity (incl. TV operators of nationwide coverage, Bulgarian film producers).

The target population is Bulgarian film producers.
