Study Visit of Experts from the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Field of Human Resources

On the 11th and 12th of November the National Statistical Institute hosted a study visit of experts from the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on ‘Human Resources Management and Training Strategy’. The study visit is carried out within the framework of the ‘EU support to the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan to reach European standards’ Project, EuropeAid/138625/DH/SER/AZ, in which the NSI participates as a partner in a consortium alongside with ICON Institute, the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, Statistics Netherlands and Statistics Lithuania.

The agenda for the study visit covered a wide range of topics regarding the place and role of the Human Resources Department in the organizational structure of the NSI, as well as an introduction to the staff appraisal system and the drafting of the annual training programme for NSI’s employees.

Their colleagues from the Human Resources Department at the NSI introduced the Azerbaijani experts to the traineeships programmes, the forms of training of statisticians and the cooperation with national universities in this field.

Experience was shared and discussions were held on the issues regarding the employees’ payment, the developed and used questionnaires aimed at assessing satisfaction with the training courses and the causes of employee turnover. In conclusion, the participants were introduced to the activities of the NSI’s Training Centre in Slivek and the NSI’s participation in the training of young statisticians from the Western Balkan countries and the countries of the European neighborhood policy – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
