Mr. Sergey Tsvetarski, President of the National Statistical Institute and Junior Member State Project Leader opened the meeting with the Azerbaijani colleagues on August 21, 2017. He acquaintеd guests with the functioning of the National Statistical System. Mr. Tsvetan Nanov, Secretary General of the NSI outlined the main objectives and tasks, as well as the achieved results in the implementation of the structural reform.
The main objective of the visit of Azerbaijani statisticians is to exchange experience in the field of institutional reform carried out at the NSI in 2015 as well as its influence on the quality of statistical surveys in the Regional Statistical Offices.
During the visit to Bulgaria, the statisticians of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan will visit the Training and Qualification Center in the village of Slivek, Lovech district, including RSO - Severozapad, as well as RSO - Severoiztok where they will learn about the structure and functions of the two RSOs, the implementation of the quality standard ISO 9001: 2015 at regional level, the traditions, the innovations, the good practices for improving the quality of statistical information, as well as the dissemination of statistical products and services at regional level. The experts from the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan will share their experience and practice on issues related to quality management.
The implementation period of the Twinning project AZ/14/ENP/ST/32 ‘Support to the State Statistical Committee in harmonisation of the National Statistics System of the Republic of Azerbaijan in line with EU standards’ is 24 months and it is expected to end in November 2017.
