Inflation and Consumer Price Indices in March 2017
The consumer price index in March 2017 compared to February 2017 was 99.5%, i.e. the monthly inflation was -0.5%.
Population and Demographic Processes in 2016
As of 31 December 2016 the population of Bulgaria is 7 101 859 persons or 1.4% of the EU population. Compared to 2015, the population of the country decreases by 51 925 persons.
There are 64 984 live born children in 2016. The number of live births decreases by 966 children compared to the previous year.
The number of dead persons is 107 580 and the crude mortality rate - 15.1‰. Compared to the previous year the number of dead people decreases by 2 537.
Activity of accommodation establishments in February 2017
In February 2017, 1 832 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places were functioned in the country. The total number of the rooms in them was 54.2 thousand and the bed-places were 109.8 thousand. In comparison with February 2016, the total number of accommodation establishments (functioned during the period) decreased with 2.3%, and the bed-places in them - by 1.0%.
The total number of the nights spent in all accommodation establishments registered in February 2017 was 907.5 thousand, or by 0.4% more in comparison with the same month of the previous year.
The total revenues from nights spent in February 2017 reached 45.8 million BGN or by 7.0% more compared to February 2016.
Bulgarian Trade with EU in January 2017 (preliminary data)
In January 2017 the Bulgarian exports to the EU increased by 7.2% compared to the same month of 2016 and amounted to 2 426.0 Million BGN while the imports grew by 16.5% and added up to 2 641.1 Million BGN.
Bulgarian Trade with Third Countries in the Period January - February 2017 (preliminary data)
In the period January - February 2017 the Bulgarian exports to third countries increased by 20.0% compared to the same period of 2016 and amounted to 2 832.3 Million BGN while the imports grew by 31.0% and added up to 3 180.6 Million BGN.
In the period January - February 2017 the total value of all exported goods (both for third countries and EU) amounted to 7 787.4 Million BGN and in comparison with the corresponding period of the previous year the exports increased by 12.7% while the total value of all imported goods added up to 8 644.5 Million BGN and grew by 18.5%.
Construction Production Indices in February 2017
According to the preliminary data, in February 2017 the index of production in section ‘Construction’ calculated on the base of seasonally adjusted data was 2.2% above the level of the previous month. In February 2017 the working day adjusted index of production in construction decreased by 0.5% in comparison with the same month of 2016.
Turnover Indices in 'Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles' in February 2017
According to the preliminary seasonally adjusted data in February 2017 the turnover in ‘Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles’ at constant prices increased by 0.2% compared to the previous month.
Industrial Production Indices in February 2017
According to the preliminary data the Industrial Production Index, seasonally adjusted, increased by 3.7% in February 2017 as compared to January 2017. In February 2017 the working day adjusted Industrial Production Index rose by 5.0% in comparison with the same month of 2016.
