Activity of accommodation establishments in August 2021

In August 2021, during the continuing epidemic situation, 3 058 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places, functioned in the country. The total number of the rooms in them was 126.5 thousand and the bed-places were 287.6 thousand. In comparison with August 2020, the total number of accommodation establishments (functioned during the period) increased by 5.6%, and the bed-places in them - by 11.4%.

The total number of the nights spent in all accommodation establishments registered in August 2021 was 5 361.5 thousand, or by 51.2% more in comparison with the same month of the previous year.

The total revenues from nights spent in August 2021 increased by 79.8% compared to August 2020 and reached 357.2 million BGN.

Construction Production Indices in August 2021

According to the preliminary data, in August 2021 the index of production in section ‘Construction’ calculated on the basis of seasonally adjusted data was 0.5% above the level of the previous month. In August 2021, the working day adjusted index of production in construction increased by 2.4% in comparison with the same month of 2020.

Turnover Indices in 'Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles' in August 2021

According to the preliminary seasonally adjusted data in August 2021 the turnover in ‘Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles’ at constant prices decreased by 1.1% compared to the previous month. The calendar adjusted turnover rose by 12.0% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Production and Deliveries of Energy Products, July 2021

In July 2021 compared to June 2021 an increase is reported for the production of: solid fuels - by 97.7%, liquefied petroleum gases - by 33.3%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 8.0%, and electricity - by 18.9%. A decrease is reported for the production of transport diesel - by 5.4%. No change for the production of natural gas.

In July 2021 compared to June 2021 an increase is reported for the deliveries of: solid fuels - by 96.8%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 11.1%, transport diesel - by 31.4%, natural gas - by 12.6% and electricity - by 9.8%. No change for the deliveries of liquefied petroleum gases.

Trips of Bulgarian Residents Abroad and Arrivals of Visitors from Abroad to Bulgaria in August 2021

In August 2021, in the conditions of the continuing epidemic situation, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 626.6 thousand. The trips with holiday and recreation purposes in August 2021 composed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - 41.1%, followed by those with other purposes (as a guest, education and visit the cultural and sport events) - 40.5%, and with professional purpose - 18.4%.

In August 2021, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 1 537.6 thousand, as the transit was 40.7% (626.1 thousand) of all visits of foreigners in the country. In August 2021, the relative share of visits by purpose was as follows: with other purposes - 47.6%, with holiday and recreation purpose - 45.1%, and with professional purpose - 7.3%.

In September 2021, the total business climate indicator decreases by 2.4 percentage points in comparison with August. A reduction of the indicator is observed in industry, construction and retail trade, and in service sector preserves approximately its level from the previous month.
