Trade in goods of Bulgaria with EU in the Period January - July 2022 (preliminary data)

Тhe exports of goods from Bulgaria to the EU increased by 44.4% compared to the same period of 2021 and amounted to 36 518.8 million BGN, while the imports of goods from the EU grew by 32.9% and reached 33 948.0 million BGN.

The most notable growth in the exports of goods to the EU compared to the same period of 2021 was recorded in sections ‘Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials’ (301.9%) and ‘Animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes’ (171.3%). A fall was reported in the section ‘Beverages and tobacco’ (15.4%). The largest growth in the imports of goods from the EU was recorded in the section ‘Animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes’ (179.6%). Data are by the Standard International Trade Classification.

The exports to the EU increased by 43.2% in July 2022 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 5 484.2 million BGN, while the imports grew by 31.4% and added up to 5 189.8 million BGN.

Trade in goods of Bulgaria with Third Countries in the Period January - August 2022 (preliminary data)

The exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries increased by 35.8% compared to the same period of 2021 and amounted to 20 479.4 million BGN, while the imports of goods from third countries grew by 63.1% and added up to 31 495.8 million BGN.

Тhe most notable growth in the exports of goods to third countries compared to the same period of 2021 was recorded in the sections ‘Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials’ (203.3%) and ‘Animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes’ (123.1%). A fall was reported in the section ‘Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material’[1] (11.7%). The largest growth in the imports of goods from third countries was recorded in the sections ‘Animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes’ (378.7%) and ‘Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials’ (126.5%). The data are by the Standard International Trade Classification.

The total value of all exported goods to third countries and the EU amounted to 62 164.8 million BGN in the period January - August 2022, which is 41.6% more than the same period of the previous year, while the total value of all imported goods from third countries and the EU added up to 70 223.1 million BGN and grew by 45.3%.

Economic accounts for agriculture for 2021 (final data)

The value of the final output produced in agriculture for 2021 amounted to 10 776.2 million BGN (at current prices), which was 37.0% more than the previous year. The increase was due to both the increase in volumes of production - by 18.0% and an increase of prices - by 16.1% on an annual basis.

The value of the goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in 2021 amounted to 5 612.8 million BGN, which was 26.2% higher than the previous year. The increase was due to the rise both in volumes - by 13.3%, and in prices - by 11.4% on an annual basis.

The gross value added produced in 2021 in agriculture was equal to 5 163.4 million BGN (at basic prices). It was 51.0% more than the previous year. The increase was due to the significant increase in both volumes - by 24.2% and prices - by 21.6% on an annual basis.

The net operating surplus/mixed income in agriculture in 2021 amounted to 4 935.5 million BGN and was 34.6% higher compared to the previous year. The increase was due to the rise of produced by the agriculture in 2021 gross value added compare to the previous year.

The net entrepreneurial income in agriculture in 2021 amounted to 3 260.8 million BGN and increased by 35.1% compared to the previous year. The growth rate was almost the same as the recorded increase in the net operating surplus.

Gross fixed capital formation in agriculture in 2021 was equal to 871.1 million BGN and compared to the previous year increased by 2.1%. The bigger part of it - 800.7 million BGN (91.9%) represented gross fixed capital formation in non-agricultural products (agricultural machinery, equipment and vehicles, and in buildings).

Construction Production Indices in August 2022

Тhe index of production in section ‘Construction’ increased by 0.5% in August 2022 compared to the previous month. An equal increase was observed in the production of building construction and the production of civil engineering, both - by 0.5%.

As compared to August 2021, the index of production in construction increased by 1.0%. In building construction an increase of 3.3% was registered, while in civil engineering a decrease of 2.0% was observed.

Turnover Indices in 'Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles' in August 2022

In August 2022 the turnover in ‘Retail trade, except motor vehicles and motorcycles’ at constant prices increased by 1.0% compared to the previous month. The data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted.

An increase of turnover was reported in ‘Retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco’ by 6.5%, in ‘Retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores’ by 1.1% and in ‘Retail sale of non-food products (except fuel)’ by 0.5%.

The calendar adjusted turnover increased by 2.1% in August 2022 as compared to the same month of 2021.

An increase was seen in ‘Retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores’ by 7.7% and in ‘Retail sale of non-food products (except fuel)’ by of 4.4%, while in ‘Retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco’ a decrease by 3.9% was registered.

Industrial Production Indices in August 2022

The Industrial Production Index increased by 0.7% in August 2022 compared to July 2022. The data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted.

Compared to the previous month an increase was reported in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply - by 1.5% and in manufacturing - by 1.2%, while a decrease was seen in the mining and quarrying industry - by 7.6%.

In August 2022 the calendar adjusted Industrial Production Index rose by 16.5% in comparison with the same month of 2021.

Growth compared to August 2021 was reported in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply - by 51.3%, in manufacturing - by 12.7% while a decline was observed in the mining and quarrying industry - by 5.7%.

Producer Price Indices in Industry, August 2022

The Total Producer Price Index increased by 8.7% in August 2022 compared to the previous month. Higher prices were registered in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 28.0%, and in the mining and quarrying industry by 5.6%, while lower prices were observed in the manufacturing by 1.6%.

The Producer Price Index on the Domestic Market increased by 12.5% compared to July 2022. The domestic prices went up in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 26.5%, and in mining and quarrying industry by 5.3%. Prices fell in the manufacturing by 1.1%.

The Total Producer Price Index rose by 50.3% in August 2022 compared to the same month of 2021. The prices went up in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 130.6%, in the manufacturing by 22.7%, in the mining and quarrying industry by 9.0%.

The Producer Price Index on the Domestic Market went up by 68.2% compared to August 2021. Prices rose in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 129.2%, in manufacturing by 29.7% and in the mining and quarrying industry by 12.0%.

Production and Deliveries of Energy Products, July 2022

In July 2022, compared to June 2022, an increase is reported for the production of: solid fuels - by 16.1%, liquefied petroleum gases - by 11.1%, transport diesel - by 6.9%, electricity - by 4.2% and unleaded motor gasoline - by 3.2%. A decrease is reported only for the production of natural gas - by 50.0%.

In July 2022, compared to the same month of the previous year, an increase is reported for the production of: transport diesel - by 54.0%, solid fuels - by 39.6%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 33.9%, liquefied petroleum gases - by 25.0% and electricity - by 9.6%. A decrease is reported only for the production of natural gas - by 50.0%.

In July 2022, compared to June 2022, an increase is reported for the deliveries of: liquefied petroleum gases - by 18.2%, solid fuels - by 14.2%, electricity - by 8.3%, natural gas - by 5.0% and transport diesel - by 1.9%. A decrease is reported only for the deliveries of unleaded motor gasoline - by 37.9%.

In July 2022, compared to the same month of the previous year, an increase is reported for the deliveries of: solid fuels - by 34.2% and liquefied petroleum gases - by 11.4%. A decrease is reported for the deliveries of: unleaded motor gasoline - by 28.0%, natural gas - by 27.0%, transport diesel - by 14.3% and electricity - by 4.8%.
