Inflation and Consumer Price Indices in March 2018

The investment business inquiry of NSI carried out among industrial enterprises in March 2018 shows that in 2017 the expenditures for acquiring fixed tangible and intangible assets in industry are by 7.4% more in comparison with 2016. Plans of industrial enterprises in 2018 are for a decrease of investments by 6.6% compared to the previous year.
In January 2018 the Bulgarian exports to the EU increased by 26.9% compared to the same month of 2017 and amounted to 3 094.3 Million BGN while the imports grew by 21.7% and added up to 3 226.3 Million BGN.
In the period January - February 2018 the Bulgarian exports to third countries decreased by 20.9% compared to the same period of 2017 and amounted to 2 240.9 Million BGN while the imports grew by 9.3% and added up to 3 483.4 Million BGN.
In the period January - February 2018 the total value of all exported goods (both for third countries and EU) amounted to 8 020.5 Million BGN and in comparison with the same period of the previous year the exports increased by 2.9% while the total value of all imported goods added up to 9 620.9 Million BGN and grew by 11.1%.
In February 2018, 1 883 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places were functioned in the country. The total number of the rooms in them was 54.9 thousand and the bed-places were 110.7 thousand. In comparison with February 2017, the total number of accommodation establishments (functioned during the period) increased by 2.8%, and the bed-places in them - by 0.8%.
The total number of the nights spent in all accommodation establishments registered in February 2018 was 939.4 thousand, or by 3.5% more in comparison with the same month of the previous year.
The total revenues from nights spent in February 2018 reached 50.2 million BGN or by 9.6% more compared to February 2017.
As of 31 December 2017 the population of Bulgaria is 7 050 034 persons, representing 1.4% of the EU population. Compared to 2016, the population decreases by 51 825 persons.
There are 63 955 live born children in 2017. The number of live births decreases by 1 029 compared to the previous year.
The number of deaths in 2017 is 109 791 and the crude mortality rate - 15.5‰. Compared to the previous year the number of deaths increases by 2 211.
According to the preliminary data, in February 2018 the index of production in section ‘Construction’ calculated on the base of seasonally adjusted data was 13.9% below the level of the previous month. In February 2018 the working day adjusted index of production in construction increased by 4.1% in comparison with the same month of 2017.
According to the preliminary seasonally adjusted data in February 2018 the turnover in ‘Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles’ at constant prices kept level of the previous month.
According to the preliminary data the Industrial Production Index, seasonally adjusted, decreased by 1.5% in February 2018 as compared to January 2018. In February 2018 the working day adjusted Industrial Production Index went down by 1.0% in comparison with the same month of 2017.
