The National Statistical Institute presents to users of statistical information annual electronic bilingual publication Crimes and Persons Convicted 2008, containing data on crimes with penalty inflicted. The issue includes data about the activity of regional, district and martial courts in penal cases of a general, private and administrative nature. Comparable data on crimes with penalty inflicted, as well as persons convicted with sentences in force for 1989 - 2008 period are also shown.
The issue contains basic methodological notes and analysis of crimes with penalty inflicted, as well as persons convicted with sentences in force.
The published information is systematized in two sections: General Review and Regional Review in accordance with the Law for administrative structure of the Republic of Bulgaria, effective as of 5.01.1999 (28 districts) and territorial units for statistical purposes ‘statistical zones’ and ‘statistical regions’ – according to the Classification of Territorial Units for Statistics in Bulgaria.
The General Review contains information about persons convicted with sentence in force by type of crime, sex, age, kind of penalty and by citizenship. Data about crimes with penalty inflicted on juveniles aged 14 - 17 years by sex, age and kind of penalty.
The Regional Review contains data about crimes with penalty inflicted and persons convicted (incl. juveniles convicted) by place of crimes.
