Statistical Yearbook 1912

Users of statistical information have the opportunity to view online the fourth yearbook of the Bulgarian Kingdom for 1912. It is in full-text format, in Bulgarian and French, and was published in 1915.

The information is structured in 21 sections. Traditionally, the first section contains data on the geographical position, borders and surface of the Bulgarian Kingdom, rivers, lakes, mountains, distribution by geographical areas, etc.

‘Meteorological data’ refers to atmospheric pressure, temperatures, humidity, precipitation and winds. The annual publications of the Central Meteorological Station in Sofia are used.

The demographic statistics section contains data on population movements, marriages, births and deaths. Data from the population and housing census conducted on 31 December 1910 are published.

Information on military enlistments is published for 1910.

The section ‘Economic life’ contains data on agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry.

In the field of trade, the information refers to Bulgaria’s trade in goods for the period 1879 to 1912. The market prices of domestic animals, the more important household items and wages are published for the same period.

Data on coins and banknotes were provided for the yearbook by the BNB using the national bank’s report for the period 1908 - 1912.

The boards of joint-stock banks and companies provide data for the yearbook, and information from the Bulgarian Agricultural Bank is used for the status of cooperatives.

The yearbook contains data on railroads, highways, and waterways. Also included is information on electric tramways in Sofia for the period 1901 - 1912.

In the section ‘Economic life’ there is also information about post, telegraph and communications.

‘Political and Cultural Life’ is a section that consists of information in the areas of state, county and municipal finance. There is data on legislative elections (for the V Grand National Assembly and for the XV Regular National Assembly), as well as data on government, army and education.

‘Books and Art’ is a section containing data on the Sofia and Plovdiv National Libraries.

The yearbook provides information in the fields of medicine, justice and more.

The publication ends with a section ‘Brief statistics on foreign countries’.
