NSI to present a report of the Bulgarian Presidency at the European Statistical System Committee

The President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky and the Deputy President Diana Yancheva will participate in the 36th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC), which will take place on 8 February 2018 at Eurostat, Luxembourg.

At the meeting Tsvetarsky, who is chairing the Council Working Party on Statistics, will present a report from the Bulgarian Presidency on the state of play of the open legislative proposals in the field of statistics. In addition, the ESSC will give its opinion on the regular progress report on the implementation of the ESS Vision 2020 and is expected to endorse the Smart Statistics & Big Data Roadmap. The Committee will also select the topic for the 2018 Conference of the Directors-General of the National Statistical Institutes in Europe (DGINS), which will be held on 10 and 11 October in Romania.

In the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Tsvetarsky and Ms. Yancheva will participate in a workshop on the implications for European statistics of the entry into force on 25 May 2018 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
